We are passionate about our Alaska hunts. Hunting giant bull moose in the Alaska Range is an experience that no hunter will ever forget. Now, we have a unique opportunity for the experienced hunter looking for an incredible Alaska adventure – unguided. We offer a 10-day, fully outfitted unguided Alaska moose hunt. With two travel days and eight full days of hunting, we put you in prime moose country with a wall tent, wood stove, and cut wood. The camp is complete with cots, propane cook stove, lantern and Mountain House meals to ease on cooking time and convenience.
Having success on an unguided Alaska moose hunt requires being in good physical shape. Killing a big bull means getting up the hill to glass and hunt; you can’t kill them in the river bottom. You will be in an area that has plenty of bull moose. Perhaps the most challenging part of being on your own is judging a legal bull. In Alaska, a bull must be at least 50” or have four brow tines on one side. The Alaska Department of Game and Fish has a video that’s helpful in learning how to judge a legal bull.
On this hunt, unguided hunters are also responsible for taking care of the animal after harvest, including butchering, removing cape, and preventing spoilage. We will provide you with instruction on this process. We will also pack your moose to the airstrip. We handle the camp, the equipment and making sure you’re in great moose country. You will need to bring your sleeping bag and other hunting gear. From there, you’ll be out and ready to hunt that trophy Alaska moose on your own!
Hunters are responsible for the flight to and from camp from Healy, Alaska, as well as the cost of flying your moose to Healy. We suggest renting a car Fairbanks or Anchorage to make the drive to Healy. This will allow you to transport your moose after the hunt. We can take care of antler and cape expediting.
