New Openings for Spot-and-Stalk Montana Spring Bear Hunts

Montana is the home for spot-and stalk spring black bear hunting. And we now have openings available for guided bear hunts during the spring 2019 season.

Black bear licenses here in Montana are easy to purchase and require no previous application or draw. We hunt remote areas in southwest Montana that hold strong populations of bears. This hunt requires no sitting around in stands or staring at bait barrels. This is a real mountain hunt.

Thanks to recent openings, we now have space on our spring bear hunts. The season here runs from April 15 until June 15, 2019. Why wait until next fall to go hunting? This spring, you could be stalking black bears here in the Montana high country.

Our spring black bear hunts take place near our headquarters in Big Timber, Montana. This is easy to reach, located along I-90 between Bozeman and Billings. Trips are fully guided, and include meals and lodging. These hunts feature a 1-on-1 hunter to guide ratio and include five full days of hunting. At a price of just $2,950, this is an outstanding value!

As is always the case on a hunt with Lazy J Bar O Outfitters, we use our excellent stock to access remote and productive areas. While our horses and mules make it possible to access and hunt this rugged country, they don’t do all the work. This is an exciting hunt, and may require moving quickly to set up on a bear when that opportunity arises.

Spring bear hunting in Montana is an awesome experience. Long daylight hours during late April and May are perfect for glassing and spotting bears.  While anything is possible in the Rocky Mountains, the late spring weather is typically mild and perfect for hunting. And because of the altitude here, we rarely see rubbed hides on our bears.
