The Bob Marshall Wilderness area is legendary, and for good reason. This giant swath of pristine wilderness offers solitude and genuine adventure. Whether your’re on an elk hunt, a deer hunt or one of our summer pack trips for world class fly fishing, we strive to produce an experience that will keep you coming back.

Our Bob Marshall hunting camp is located 16 miles deep in the wilderness. The main event every year is the September rifle elk hunt. This is one of the few areas in Montana, or anywhere for that matter, where hunters have the opportunity to hunt elk with a rifle during the rut. When it comes to classic, wilderness hunting experiences on horseback, this unique early season hunt is an opportunity like nothing else.

The Bob Marshall complex also home to some big bucks, including mule deer and whitetail. For that reason, most of our hunters choose to purchase a deer tag. And in fact, we don't up-sell our combo hunts. Our Elk Only and Elk/Deer Combo Hunts are the same rate.

On these Bob Marshall Wilderness hunts, we operate from our remote base camp and from roving spike camps. We use the roving hunts to capitalize on bull elk and mule deer movement as they disperse into rougher areas off the beaten path. This Alaskan-style roving hunt strategy gives us an edge and can produce some outstanding elk and mule deer.

We customize our Bob Marshall hunting trips to fit your goals. As many tried and true mountain hunters know, success and results can depend greatly on the weather, your ability, desire and just plain luck. Our goal is to give you the best experience and opportunity available.

These are 7 day traditional back country horseback hunts. Client needs to arrive at the trailhead the day before the hunt starts, and stay in Ovando that night. Maximum hunters in camp is 6 per hunt.
